    • 3.5 stars. First of all, I liked Love, Luck and Lemon Pie because it was about MATURE WOMEN yep, with kids in their late teens, with harried marriages, with somehow, somehow one of them, MJ, realizing that a wedge has crept in between herself and her husband, Chris and she can't pull them back together. Chris likes to play poker at the club, so MJ naively thinks that joining him might give them a chance to spend adult time together. Thing is, she gets plunked with the beginners and Chris heads o [...]

    • Luck, Love & Lemon Pie by Amy E. Reichert is a 2016 Gallery Books publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. I loved The Coincidence of Coconut Cake so much I could hardly wait for Amy E. Reichert’s next book. I have to say the wait was worth it. This is my kind of book in every way imaginable when it comes to contemporary fiction. MJ’s marriage is in a rut. On her twentieth wedding anniversary, she finds herself waiti [...]

    • I had hoped for more based on the author's first book. When starting this, I expected a light read, but this bordered on boring for me. There was no real depth to the characters, and I found the MC to be petty and selfish. A family relationship/connection was never really presented from the beginning, so I didn't much care about whether or not the MC resolved her issues. As a whole, this was a let-down. I am still planning to give the author's next offering a fair shot. Hopefully this was simply [...]

    • I adored the quirky romance Reichert delivered in The Coincidence of Coconut Cake so I was eager to begin Luck, Love & Lemon Pie. Set in Milwaukee and we enter the Boudreaux home. Chris and MJ have settled into a routine and are busy raising two teenage children. When, Chris is late for their anniversary lunch it sets in motion doubts about their relationship. MJ attempts to rekindle their connection but miscommunications, trouble from an old nemesis, and plans backfires MJ is unsure where s [...]

    • This bookn't waste your time! I grabbed it thinking it would be a fun read (I hate the label, but chick-lit) with food mixed in. NO, no Thankfully, I got a free copy at work, unfortunately, I kept reading hoping something would redeem the book from the floor where I threw it when it was all draggingly OVER. Again. Wrong. I really need to stop being so kind and optimistic. This is the story of a headstrong mother/wife who gets into poker because her husband is interested (for a very short moment) [...]

    • I received this as a giveaway. This was a cute book, however I felt it was written for above my bracket. I still enjoyed it though.

    • We step into the life of MJ and Chris who have been married for over 20 years and have fallen into that trap of boring existence and not taking care of each other in the manner that they should. Nothing in common anymore, working overtime, putting the kids first, and basic existence plague this couple. As you’re reading the story I found myself reflecting on my own marriage and correlating with the authors writing. I’m sure it’s not a popular position that MJ took things a bit too far, but [...]

    • How do you recapture the romance and attention you once had after many years of marriage? MJ and Chris are drifting away from each other. MJ must find a way to rekindle that spark they had when they first met. Chris enjoys hours at the local casino. MJ decides to find out what the big deal is with playing poker. She's a quick learner and discovers she has a real knack for the game. She meets a renowned poker champion and starts to enjoy his lavish attention. Will this attraction lead to the dest [...]

    • Review MJ and her husband Chris are going through some rough times in their marriage. One reason is Chris's love of poker which seems to keep them apart. The bigger issue is MJ doesn't really mind. In an attempt to rekindle their relationship MJ tries to use playing poker to find common ground. Instead as MJ starts to play more and find something for herself she puts more space between herself and her husband and kids. After winning a trip to Vegas to play in a tournament which MJ goes on withou [...]

    • I found Amy E. Reichert first through The Coincidence of Coconut Cake which was absolutely delightful, so of course when I saw that she had another book getting released in July I jumped at the chance to review it.Luck, Love & Lemon Pie is a bittersweet book, an insightful journey of rediscovering yourself and the person you love and learning to fall in love with them all over again. It's about middle-age crisis, drowning in a routine and disconnecting from your kids.MJ made me smile, she wa [...]

    • MJ Boudreaux is feeling like the sparks are missing in her marriage. When her husband appears late to their twenty-anniversary dinner, she knows she must do something to improve their relationship. Since her husband Chris enjoys playing poker, she decides she can join him at the tables and learn it herself. This could be something they could share together. To her surprise, she finds out she is good at it and little by little she starts spending more time at the casino. To make matters worse, he [...]

    • I thought The Coincidence of the Coconut Cake was charming and wonderful. I cannot say the same for Luck, Love, and Lemon Pie. I got downright grumpy reading this book which is a testament to the author's writing ability to make me care about the characters living in a plot I did not enjoy. MJ and Chris have been married for 20 years. They always celebrate their anniversary sharing a lemon pie. On this anniversary, Chris is wrapped up playing poker at the casino leaving MJ to celebrate by hersel [...]

    • 4.5 STARSI loved this book! And far more than I expected I would. I was hooked immediately by the cover and title from the very first time, but by the description I wasn't sure if I would have an appreciation for the plot. Simply because poker bores me, I don't like itwhich might have to do with the fact that I can't play worth my life. And there was quite a bit of poker in this book. But I am soooooo glad I read it. Amy Reichert is such a talented author. (I was actually interested in the poker [...]

    • I absolutely loved this novel -- it had everything -- laughs, a few tears, a little romance, jealousy, friendship and love. What more could you want to spend a few hours to take you away from your own problems? MJ and Chris have been married for 20 years and have two teenage kids. Chris has been spending more time at the casino playing poker than he has been spending with MJ so she decides that she needs to start playing poker, too, so that they can spend some quality time together. Boy does her [...]

    • A delicious and witty story about a woman who learns how to play poker as a way of reconnecting with her husband and instead finds a part of herself she never knew existed. This book will resonate with every wife and mother who wonders what else is out there or if she can find happiness where she least expects it. So fun!

    • Totally gutted over this novel. I read Reichert's first novel in less than 24 hours and absolutely loved it! I went running to the computer to find more by her! When I was approved for this novel I think I actually did a happy dance!!!I didn't stay dancing for long. I sometimes actually like "chick lit"okay, so maybe this will be the only time I admit to that.buttttttttis novel is one of the reasons I will rarely admit it. You have a middle aged lady who is all but ignored by her husband and chi [...]

    • I'd like to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book! I really enjoyed Luck, Love & Lemon Pie. It was a perfect summer read.MJ and Chris has been together since the, well, lemon pie. Chris is a wonderful cook and they meet at a college party where MJ tries his lemon pie and falls in love. She even proposes to him right on the spot, however, he politely declines as it's a bit too soon. But the pair begin dating and eventually marry. Now with two kids, Chris working constantly, an [...]

    • This is the second book of Reichert's I've read, and I loved it even more than the first. MJ is a vibrant character, with real problems, who makes real mistakes. She and Chris are delightfully flawed, but in a way that makes me want to root for them. The tertiary characters are also multi-faceted, and most of them serve some greater purpose. I actually delayed reading for a couple of weeks because I was worried I wouldn't love this book as much as I thought I would, but my fears were misplaced. [...]

    • Delicious weekend read that you will want to finish in one sitting! Enjoyed the twist on who the baker of the lemon pie is! As you read, you feel as if you are along side MJ and Chris in the hiccups of their marriage. Very smooth and enjoyable read, even I was able to understand the poker madness!

    • Perfect shelf companion to Elin Hillderbrand and Emily Giffin. Light enough to be a one-afternoon beach read, but more depth and emotion than your "average" chick lit. I loved the female friendships too.

    • I fell in love with author, Amy E. Reichert after reading THE COINCIDENCE of COCONUT CAKE. Then I started following her facebook page and blog. She not only writes wonderful novels about real woman, for women, you feel as if you know her and she's somehow your friend. That may sound strange, but for those of us who are fans, it makes sense. When I heard Amy had a new novel being published, I was thrilled. I couldn't wait to get my hands on LUCK, LOVE & LEMON PIE! I knew it was going to be ano [...]

    • Dollycas’s ThoughtsMarriage is work and when MJ Boudreaux sees her marriage starting to crumble she tries to bring them closer by learning more about her husband’s love of poker. Instead of bringing them together she becomes almost addicted spending less and less time with her family. She even enters a tournament and wins a trip to Vegas where her whole life could change completely, but is that what she really wants. The cover caught my attention and then I saw it was set in Wisconsin and wri [...]

    • The charming and delicious Milwaukee food scene details sold me on The Coincidence of Coconut Cake and I missed them here. Instead, this book focuses on the stagnate relationship between MJ and her husband, and her attempt to use poker as a way to re-light the fire, to varying degrees of effectiveness. I had to take some major leaps of faith, but I would recommend as a light beach read.Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.

    • From page one, I lost myself in Amy Reichert's latest book, Luck, Love & Lemon Pie. Every woman who's ever been in a long-term relationship will recognize themselves in MJ, a Wisconsin mother trying to win back the magic in her marriage. When she picks up poker as a way to bond with her hubby, she finds herself spending more time at the casino for comfort than at home. It's a story that whisks readers from the Midwestern suburbs to the Vegas Strip (helloooo Doyle!) and I found every excuse t [...]

    • LUCK, LOVE & LEMON PIE is definitely not a sequel to THE COINCIDENCE OF COCONUT CAKE. Nor is it quite as good. With a plot that is predictable and male characters that are as bland as a soggy pie crust, the saving grace for me were the female characters in the story. Wisconsinites will enjoy the occasional mention of familiar sites and towns, but others might not be as impressed. It was just an “okay” read for me…

    • Amy E. Reichert’s LUCK, LOVE, AND LEMON PIE delves into the complexities of marriage and what we’re willing to do for the ones we love. With relatable characters and a lot of heart, Reichert delivers a story that is both entertaining and wise, and leaves you believing that when it comes to true happiness, you can create your own luck.

    • No, no, no. There are so many things wrong with this story. Honestly if it weren't for the writing, which I think was great, I would have rated this even lower. I was not a huge fan of MJ and her lack of communication with her husband, but I understood her. I have zero love for Chris. Why was he constantly sneaking out on his family to meet with some other woman?!? I don't care if she needed someone to talk to, he was leaving his familyon holidays, no less, to go meet with her and then he lied a [...]

    • Although it was easy to read this book, the beginning wasn't very appealing to me and the constant flashbacks are always a negative aspect to em in books. There were some interesting details as well, to balance this.

    • This review was originally posted on (un)Conventional BookviewsLuck, Love and Lemon Pie deals with what happens after years of a mostly happy marriage, when boredom sets in and the two people who were always there for each other start to grow apart.MJ and Chris have been married for 20 years, but for their 20th anniversary, Chris doesn't show up at the restaurant for their celebration lunch. In fact, he's playing poker and forgot all about MJ Luck, Love and Lemon Pie starts pretty strongly , pla [...]
