    • This is one messed up story, and I say that as a compliment. I could hardly put this book down through its entirety. It begins with a couple who have clearly outgrown their relationship. The husband, Nick, takes his resentment and dials it up to sociopathy. His revenge on his wife for getting pregnant without his approval is to isolate the two of them in an ominous house located in a seemingly vacant town. Here is where the story turns. It goes from an uncomfortably bad situation to hell. Withou [...]

    • Fans of extreme horror will be blown away. Following in the tradition of Edward Lee, Wrath James White, Monica J. O'Rourke, Shane Mackenzie, Ryan Harding, Charlee Jacob, and others, C.V. Hunt has crafted the perfect next-gen extreme horror novel. Insightful, surreal, dark, sardonic, and uncomfortable.

    • C.V Hunt continues to amaze me with her versatile storytelling ability. RITUALISTIC HUMAN SACRIFICE really reads like Hunt bullseyed here zone hard. This is a sneaky story that leads you to believe its an anti-romance only to take a hard turn halfway through and becomes one of the darkest tales I've read in a long while.C.V. Hunt utilizes the first person POV for the male lead character in this story. Not since Chad Kultgen (The Average American Male) have I read a more honest first person prese [...]

    • Ritualistic Human Sacrifice does not contain a dull moment. I cannot find anything I do not like about this book. CV Hunt has written from the male perspective flawlessly. I snickered and grinned through all of the spiteful things happening during part one. There is something here that all of us who have experienced the ups and downs of marriage can relate to, at least to some degree. The characters are strong and relatable, no matter how far off the deep end they go. As the story progressed, it [...]

    • Dark and over-the-top, yet still somewhat playful in its execution, Ritualistic Human Sacrifice starts slow and builds to a fevered and disgusting pace that was so heinous I almost put the book down. Almost, but didn’t. And BOY, am I glad I sallied through! The vivid descriptions in the third act are among the most viscerally stomach-churning I’ve ever read. Yet, even against all the sex and strangeness and unapologetic gore, Hunt never blinks, and then take the whole show one step further. [...]

    • I'm not sure how to review this one. I thought the writing was extremely concise. The author was convincing writing from the male pov. The story was bizarre and raunchy, completely over the top. I almost threw up a couple of times, so I think this was a success. I will have to check out something else by C V Hunt, but only if I haven't eaten recently.

    • Nick is a miserable prick, compulsive masturbator and an all-around douchebag. His wife Eve has some great news to share. Nick doesn’t think so and sets out a plan of revenge to get back at her by buying a house out in the sticks away from her job and all her friends and family. What a guy.Unfortunately for Nick, the house isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Neither is the town. There’s something sinister going on and both Nick and Eve are about to get elbow deep in some serious doo-doo. Li [...]

    • Now that I've finished the book, I finally understand the front cover. The protagonist of Ritualistic Human Sacrifice is a pretty unpleasant character, certainly pretty hate-filled and spiteful, but at least in the early going, I don't think he's wrong. On the contrary, his wife deliberately springing a pregnancy on him - against all his wishes and their own agreement - is a pretty lousy thing to do and I think he has every right to be upset. His revenge, however, is a little too mean and elaborat [...]

    • HOLY CHRIST!!! This is CV Hunt's longest novel, amd definitely the creepiest so far. Maybe not for everyone (as hinted by the cover), it was perfect for me. I don't think I would have acted much different than Nick Graves had I been thrust into his situation. Although the damn town they moved to just had to spoil a wonderful revenge plan!

    • If you are planning revenge on a significant other read this first. The story is told in the first person of a husband who blames his wife for the mediocrity of his life. So when she makes a life changing decision without consulting him first he becomes hell bent on getting his own back by making life changing decisions for them without her consultation. The book is split into three parts. The first part develops the characters and the decision's they make that will lead to a very gruesome futur [...]

    • Nick Graves may be one of the most selfish, unlikable persons in literature. He lives in a loveless marriage egged on by his self-centeredness, sexual selfishness, and failure to mend. He is ready to tell his wife that he is leaving her and getting a divorce. Then his wife drops a bomb on him. She is pregnant despite the fact that they have agreed not to have children. Nick's response is to buy a house without her consent and move them to a place away from her friends and any of the pleasures sh [...]

    • Highly disturbing, so handle with caution! There are a few things I like about CV Hunt's writing: she plain tells a story and even under these horrid circumstances she can be really entertaining and hilarious. She also writes very well from a male perspective. I'm not so keen on goresque stuff, but if that's your thing you may want to check this novel out.

    • The writing in this book isn't awful but it's held back due to the lack of plot, as the book seems to be less of a story and more of a delivery system for porn. The story and descriptions are repetitive and parts of the book just seem like the fantasies of a porn addled mind. I kept on as I the wanted to see where the story was going but I ended up disappointed.

    • Finally had time to get to reviewing this book. As this is a review, it will contain spoilers, so if you haven't read it yet Stop reading this review now! ***C.V. Hunt is one of my favorite authors. Loved Baby Hater and Other People's Shit is one of my top ten fiction novels. RITUALISTIC HUMAN SACRIFICE trumps Hunt's repertoire. It is her best, and I'm not joking. The characters of Nick and Eve are handled with such a precise character arc that you really fall in love (and hate) with them in the [...]

    • If you're unafraid of depravity, take a ride with CV Hunt to a nice little country town. When reading this, you may think "Can't get any more messed up than this right here." Well, it might. It might a lot. At the end, you'll have read a story that will stick with you for miles down the road. Why, you might even enjoy reading passages of this story aloud to your friends in the food court at your local shopping mall. I think CV would like that.

    • Great book. The cover grabbed me so hard and I was looking forward to this for a while. No holds barred by the author, went to some seriously dark and extreme places. Lives up to the evilness I was expecting. Main characters were very well portrayed. Only complaint, the motivation of a character pivotal in the climax didn't quite work for me, as far as why she would stay in this weird little town. Otherwise, this book rocked.

    • I just re-read this masterpiece for the Horror-Bizarro book club I belong to. Once again, it blew me away. The second time was better than the first. If you've never read this one, now is your time. Come on, let's not keep Nana Mary waiting.

    • This book is living proof that a journey can be totally awesome, even if the destination (or the reason for the journey) is not.

    • Well that was intense.I went into this book knowing no more than what the synopsis read, and boy was I unprepared. This book is brutal in its unflinching descriptions. Each new depravity is paraded with glee. In fact I'll say it now, I would not recommend this book for the squeamish or easily offend. If however you are hearty enough to read explicit material, you are in for one interesting read. I could barely put this book down. Even though the protagonist was a total d-bag, I needed to see wha [...]

    • Depravity. I am a big fan of CV Hunt, I think this is the fourth book of hers I have read and it's definitely the most extreme. I feel like I need a shower. The story begins with Nick Graves who is trying to gather the gumption to leave his wife Eve due to the staleness of their marriage. He soon finds out from Eve that she has tricked him into being a father because she's pregnant. Nick really doesn't want kids, and decides instead of leaving Eve, he is going to concoct a spiteful revenge plan. [...]

    • I'm giving this four stars for guts. The sex scenes, which are purposely uncomfortable to read, became a bit much for my taste, too gratuitous. But hey, I used to read Poppy Z. Brite, and I've read my share of Edward Lee, so I can't really complain. That's "extreme" horror for you. It's over the top. Plus, all the warning signs are there. If you continue reading this book through the first couple masturbation scenes (like this sick puppy did), you have brought the chaos of the later chapters dow [...]

    • I don't even know what to say. I could not put this book down. It was the most disgusting, deranged, and fucked up thing I've read in a long time and I love it. I honestly need to go take a shower now that I'm done reading it. Congrats Ms Hunt, you are going to give people nightmares.

    • 4 AND 1/2 STARSHoly smokes! I was so in the mood for a book like this. On the surface, it might seem graphic and totally crazy, but it reads like a slow burn that, of course, culminates into what you might expect, but with some nice twists and revelations. C.V. Hunt writes more like a male writer than most male writers combined, and that's a complement. She really hit this one out of the park for me. Before the novel starts, she mentions that it was influenced by Bentley Little and Bret Easton E [...]

    • Nasty! Repulsive! A must-read! :) One f*cked up read, I love it! :) This is one of those stories where you wouldn't mind the main character being offed. What an *ahem* anyway. this book was chosen for January's book of the month in a reading group I'm in I had every intention of going by the schedule they laid out. Once I got to reading it was impossible to put down though so I kinda zoomed through it. Whoops. Just going to need to be careful about spoilers in any future discussions. I went back [...]

    • Picked this one up right before Halloween 2017. I've known about it for quite a while but was never sure if I wanted to visit such a dark place as the book appeared lead, so having Halloween around helped get me there. I didn't really read what it was about. Just jumped right in. Thankfully it lived up to what I imagined in my head. What I hoped was it would go even further and f*ck me up even more. And it did. I didn't expect all the sex stuff and normally don't care for that but it was written [...]

    • Beautifully written horrifying things! Not for the faint heartedPerhaps the most mean spirited, selfish bastard of a narrator I've ever come across and I couldn't put it down! A testament to C.V. Hunt's immense talent. Brilliant storytelling through the voice of such a loathsome character. If Hunt can capture my interest so powerfully in this way, I can't wait to read more from her!

    • This is the first book I have read by the author and it certainly was memorable. This book has a very unlikeable main character that I found myself rooting for. The first half of the book moves at a slow but good pace which leaves you unprepared for the craziness of the second half. I found myself questioning my sanity as I enjoyed reading about things that grossed and freaked me out. I take pride in not being grossed out but this book broke through my defenses in a wonderful way. There is much [...]
