    • Overall, I mostly enjoyed the story line. But there were a lot of parts of the book that irked me. There were many grammar/punctuation mistakes. The characters were not developed at all. I couldn't connect or care about any of them and some seemed unreal. Like Alisha was mean one minute, nice the next and it never made sense for her to act the ways she did. There was lack of consistency in some things, for example the names. Ronan refers to Burke's mom as Mrs. Harold sometimes, and sometimes Aunt [...]

    • This book is like a half-baked cookie. It has potential, but it's still too raw to be sold. It needs a LOT of polishing both grammar and punctuation-wise. Sometimes it seemed that the author wasn't a native English speaker and that nobody had bothered to edit or check for mistakes. Then, I had another problem with the characters. They aren't developed at all, so it's impossible to connect with any of them. Not to mention how Ronan and Cat go from strangers to teenagers that want to get MARRIED in [...]

    • I really enjoyed the premise of the book and the whole genetically modified & having these special abilities & I LIKED the characters - I really wanted to love them though but they just seemed really un-relatable and kind of disjointed, probably the aspect I hated the most was definitely the relationship between Cat and Ronan - like I'm all for a bit of insta-love now and then but this was just a bit too instant for me - they were more like an older couple who had been married for a whil [...]

    • I read this book mostly out of interest for the topic of human genetic engineering and wanted something a little tamer than the Maximum Ride series. I wasn’t disappointed with Designed for Perfection. While the story is a young adult fantasy, it’s not that far from the realms of what we may see in the very near future with human engineering. The author incorporated some realistic psychological struggles and emotions that one would expect to be associated with growing up a “Designer Baby. [...]

    • Rating: 4.5/5When I first read the synopsis of the book it immediately got my attention. Genetic is a hot topic in the last couple of years and let’s be honest here…we are pretty close of actually being able to choose exactly what we want our baby to look like! So when Elle Davis offered me a copy of her books in exchange of an honest review on I jumped on the opportunity and I’m glad I did! For a first novel I’ve been surprised about the quality of her writing. A lot of time, in their [...]

    • this is a must read for all you super natural fans out there! I am a very avid reader and let me tell you, it grabs you from page one. This is the kind of series that needs to be looked at by movie producers. With all the popular super natural movies that are hitting it big, this would make an exciting new twist on the super natural big screen. Cant wait for the second book!

    • Designed for Perfection by Elle Davis When I first heard about Designed for Perfection. I jumped at the chance to read it. Genetically modified DNA- it's unlike anything I've ever read. At times it was lacking emotional and relationship development. But, I'm not complaining because the relationship was really endearing. Also I wished the scenes between Ronan and Cat were a bit longer. I felt we only had a minuscule amount of conversation between them. But the ending had me clawing for the next b [...]

    • Ronan Callahan is not your average teenager. Not only does he have supernatural powers, but he has also been genetically modified before birth. During the first in this coming of age series, Ronan must come to terms with the fact that his parent's chose a designer baby and unite with other genetically modified youngsters against the government agencies which are out to get them.Sound cliched? It is and I would definitely have liked a bit more depth/exploration of the whole moral and ethical issu [...]

    • When the topic first came up about reading Designed for Perfection, I was a little hesitant due my thinking it would be about a bunch of high school kids and their love story. Wow, was I ever wrong. I am so glad, I had the opportunity to read this book.Designed for perfection is about not typical high school students. They had a little help from their parents in changing their DNA. The kids are the "perfect" students, athletes and models. Most people think having the "perfect" body, life and eve [...]

    • Original review found at kristineandterri/23.5 stars* I won a copy of this book in a giveaway in exchange for an honest review.*I wasn't sure what I would think when I first got this book in the mail. I will admit that I am sometimes guilty of judging a book by its cover and I really do not like the cover. Considering the people depicted on the front are suppose to be beyond beautiful it just doesn't fit. To me they look scary with perhaps the exception of the little girl. I'm glad that I could [...]

    • The story was quite original. It was a good read and hard to put down at times. The characters were likable, but I wish there was more of a back-story to some of the other Designers, like Alisha. I figure that their stories might be developed in a future book, or books (which I would definitely buy), though. The characters were all quite original and not the typical 'cookie-cutter' characters that are featured in many novels. The writing was smooth and flowed well with a couple of exceptions, whi [...]

    • When I first heard about this book I really wanted to read it and I'm really happy I did because it was great. The concept of the book was interesting and very original. It kept me engaged throughout the whole book. I liked the fact that it wasn't too long and I am excited to see what happens in the next book. I thought that the romance between the main characters was a little too fast paced for my liking. At first I didn't really like how Ronan, the main character, treated his parents but once [...]

    • i liked the coveri enjoyed the book i love the whole thing i cant wait to read the next book in the series i love this i give it 5 plus stars

    • I received a free copy of this book from Elle Davis through the GoodReads First Reads Giveaway. (Thank you, Elle Davis)!Tired of all the teen books like Twilight full of cheesy romance and predictable action? Are you bored to tears from reading and re-reading Maximum Ride because you simply can't find a new series to dive into? Lucky for you, there is an author named Elle Davis who wrote this wonderful book about genetically engineered humans (called Designers) and what happens when a deadly vir [...]

    • I was kindly gifted this a copy of this novel by the lovely author Elle Davis, who asked me to review it on Good Reads. I will fully admit that I only had it on my to-read list because I entered a good reads giveaway. When Elle messaged me asking me to review it I said yes naturally, but I was a little dubious if I would actually like this book. Let me tell you I was sooo wrong. I loved it. I am a massive fan of anything slightly supernatural or dystopian most of the books I read are along those [...]

    • I LOVED this book! This author did a great job for her first book! The characters were nicely developed. I really enjoyed the overlapping that was done, going between one main character to the other. I really can't wait unitl the next one! Have already suggested this book to family, friends and coworkers!!(I won this book through a Good reads First Reads contest)

    • This book was AMAZING! Elle Davis truly knows how to keep a reader begging for more! Her characters are truly lovable and unique. Especially little Claire! I personally felt like I was in the story. (My name is Catalina but I go by Cat) And that so happens to be one of the names of Davis's characters. Davis's characters are easily brought to life through this action packed, romantic, sweet story. Davis interprets the idea that family is worth everything throughout the book. She shows with her ch [...]

    • Read full Review at: bookaholic-reads *I RECEIVED THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW* NO SPOILERS! Designed for Perfection by Elle Davis is a beautiful, cute romance story but it has a twist! Is it possible to say I am in love with a book because it is so true! Designed for Perfection was incredible and the writing style was also a job well done. You can clearly see throughout this novel that Elle Davis used her background knowledge on Medicine, Perfect Genes in creating this novel which [...]

    • I was kindly gifted this a copy of this novel by the author, who asked me to review it. I was happy to oblige. I teach college courses about the impact of technology on society, and one of the topics that we discuss is genetic modification. This book appealed to me in that regard because it deals with a huge "what if": What if we take "designer babies" to a whole new level? What if parents could choose everything from their babies' eye color to how strong they will be, how fast they can run, and [...]

    • I would have given this 3.5 stars if it was an option. I was surprised, because the cover is kind of funky, and it's hard to tell when the book is free if it's a find, or a felonious crime against literature. The characters were pretty well developed, it had chapters from Ronan's and Cat' point of view, which they were pretty equal with each other, I think that's a hard balance, I often find myself really liking one person's perspective over the other, but they read pretty similar to each other.R [...]

    • I actually decided to read this book simply because I won a copy of the second in the series. I would NEVER start a series @ the second book. That would be crazy. Well I ended up getting to read this for free as Elle Davis put it on the Wattpad app. Thanks so much:) I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice change from a lot of what I currently read. The idea of genetically engineered designer children was a brilliant storyline. It is relevant to our society as we hear so much about this & c [...]

    • First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate this cover? It is so beautiful! And now on to my review: The reason I picked this up was because of the cover (of course) and because Sasha Alsberg (@theshadowhunters) had recommended it. Also, I thought the topic of this book was very Original and interesting since we are very close to actually start designing our own babies. There was one thing though that kind of bothered me and that was the printing mistakes. There were a few quotation mar [...]

    • Elle Davis did a wonderful job in her first YA novel! I was most captivated by the topic of Genetically Engineered humanse author is ahead of the field in presenting this subject from the perspective of the "Designer Babies." There are many sub-plots at play throughout the novellove, anger, loss, death, ego, heroes, protection all appear throughout the storyis keeps the reader captured and curious about each chapter. I also found myself reminded of the most difficult time in my life growing upyi [...]

    • I received this book for honest review. Thank you Elle Davis for giving me the chance to read your amazing book.I really loved this book. I love to read anything supernatural. It grabbed my attention from the beginning. It was very hard to put down. I love the cover of the book. The plot was very interesting, and I liked all the characters. I loved the romance of Ronan and Cat. I really think this book should be turned into a movie. I can't wait till the next book comes out. This is such of an a [...]

    • I won/received this book through .I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Once I got the time to pick it up, I couldn't put it down finished it the same day! I can hardly wait for my 9 year old to be able to read it lol (it will definitely handed down to her as a future read). Very well written, fun to read, and I look forward to more great things to come from the very talented author, Elle Davis!

    • I won this book in a first reads giveaway. Thank you Elle Davis and for the chance to review this book. This is a great young adult novel. It has a great storyline along with relationships the older kids can understand. I look forward to reading book two in this series. My tween daughter has asked if she can read this. I will give her this one to read now, and get her book two as a gift.

    • I received this book for free through First Reads. I am always looking for books through the First Reads giveaway that would be great for an in classroom library as I am a teacher. I myself really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait for the next book of the series.I would definitely recommend this book to others that enjoy reading ya books with this type of adventure/mystery/romance. Overall wonderful book to read.
