    • A powerful book that every Christ-follower should read. Very encouraged by William P. Farley! Highly recommended!

    • An outstanding book! This book is really directed toward preachers though every Christian will certainly benefit from it. It is a call to true gospel preaching and any Christian who loves the gospel and is sickened by its mass perversion in our day will delight in this book. Farley argues that the root of all sin in man is pride. The gospel is designed by the infinite wisdom of God to not only save man, but to humble him. Thus, Farley argues, any gospel that does not aim primarily at humbling ma [...]

    • This was a powerful little book, just a couple hundred pages. Conviction everywhere. Warnings to the man or woman that desires to be conformed into Christ’s image. Helpful instruction on how to identify pride and cultivate humility. Whenever I read a book so packed with truth this fast it means it was full of valuable truth. I’m hungry for more hard hitting topics because I hate my sin and greatly desire holiness. This book has motivated me. Now to live it well after putting it on the book s [...]

    • After reading just the introduction, I found myself recommending this to many of my friends. Of course, with a book like this, one has to be sure that the recommendations isn't taken as a critique of the recommendee's character.I loved Farley's straightforward, simple style. He began each chapter by telling you outright what he was going to be talking about, and each chapter also ended with a summary of all the main points addressed in the chapter. The author certainly does't pull any punches eit [...]

    • "The absence of writing on pride and humility is one of the first signs that secular culture has evangelized the church, not vice versa." location 546 kindleHumility is the ability to see ourselves as God does, if you don't know how God sees you, you will most likely stumble through life with a powerless faith. These pages contain a dose of reality, you wouldn't think about reading a book like this unless you were reading the bible closely and realized under examination you looked too much like w [...]

    • Humility, the quality of being humble, or the absence (or rejection) of pride, or not taught or rewarded in today's world. While the vast majority of Christians go to church to find God's peace and personal fulfillment very few seek to understand the concept of sin; original sin, our sinful nature, and God's complete rejection of sinners. We, as a people, just want to hear that God loves us and everything will be just fine. Author William P. Farley argues that many in the pulpit have succumbed to [...]

    • The author brings back from the dead key Puritan thinkers and gives a dogmatic exposition of concepts almost forgotten in contemporary churches such as the moral peril of humanity, original sin, the wrath of God and the day of judgement. These aren't easy ideas and he turns to frequent repetition and Biblical quotes especially from Paul of Tarsus. I’m sure it’s important in my spiritual edification but God only knows how I can share some of this message which is a natural antidote to a lukew [...]

    • This one gets 3 stars because I think several chapters suffer from lack of clarity. When dealing with issues of God's judgement, justice, and justification, definitions of terms become very important. Is our status dependent on our humility, good works, etc.? What do we mean by status? etc. etc. I thought a few more explanatory (and encouraging) paragraphs could have cleared up some unnecessary confusion. However, taking for granted that William Farley believes in justification by grace alone, f [...]

    • I'm not even sure what to say about this book besides that I was amazed. Teaches a lot on the importance of knowing God's wrath and His love. Really teaches on how important our humility is and the blindness our pride creates.

    • Best book I've ever read on humility. Bill Farley shows us how glorious the Gospel is, and how humble we should be in light of it.
